The air was stifling in downtown Bordeaux on Tuesday afternoon.
After the tenth day of mobilization against the pension reform, which brought together between 11,000 and 80,000 demonstrators in the streets (according to figures from the prefecture and the inter-union), part of the procession quickly attacked the forces of order and several degradations were committed in the city center.

Some acts of sabotage, in particular cuts in electricity and telecommunications networks affecting public services and individuals, nevertheless took place during the parade.
But once the demonstration was over, some wanted to fight it out.

The presence of black blocks
Around 3:30 p.m., after the procession arrived at Place de la Bourse, several dozen individuals, dressed in black and masked, launched projectiles from the square towards the police, who were protecting the access. at rue Saint-Rémi and rue Fernand Philippart, very commercial.
The police issued warnings to encourage the "
black blocks
" to disperse.
The most vehement individuals then left the square and went up the quays towards the Porte de Bourgogne.
Several clashes took place with the police around the Saint-Michel district, with projectiles thrown by the demonstrators then tear gas canisters launched by the police in order to disperse them.

Seven injured and six arrested
This wild demonstration then gathered on the Place de la Victoire, where the campus of the University of Bordeaux has been occupied and barricaded by students for several days.
Demonstrators were able to find refuge there and the situation eventually calmed down.
Drawing up a provisional assessment of the demonstration, the prefecture reported six minor injuries on the side of the police and one minor injury on the side of the demonstrators.
Street furniture was also destroyed, 19 fires were lit in garbage cans and two vehicles were damaged.

Despite a substantial official procession, without any real clashes or damage, this is the second time that a mobilization against the pension reform has degenerated in Bordeaux.
A few hours after that of March 23, individuals had set fire to the porch of the town hall of Bordeaux, a symbol which caused a great stir on the part of elected officials and Bordeaux residents.
Fourteen people had been arrested during the day on the sidelines of this previous mobilization.
