Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today (Wednesday) published an announcement regarding the completion of the legislation that the United States requested in order to advance the process of obtaining the visa exemption.
Netanyahu made the announcement in the midst of a diplomatic crisis between Washington and Israel, following President Joe Biden's dramatic statement against the legal revolution.
"Today we brought important news to the citizens of Israel. As we promised, the legislative requirements for obtaining a visa exemption for the US have been successfully completed.
In the coming months we will fulfill the additional requirements, and in September 2023 the State of Israel is expected to enter the list of visa-exempt countries for the US," Netanyahu said.
But alongside the legislation, there are other heavy issues that prevent the promotion of the visa exemption, first of all the provision of equal treatment to Americans of Palestinian origin.
This issue is still open and there is no consensus about it.
