The Ministry of Defense, the IDF and the Aerospace Industry launched the "Ofek 13" satellite into space tonight (Wednesday). The satellite was successfully launched using the "Shavit" type satellite launcher, from an experimental field in the center of the country. The satellite was launched tonight at 02:10 am. "Ofek



13 " is a radar observation satellite with advanced capabilities.

Upon entering orbit around the Earth, the satellite will undergo a series of tests designed to verify its integrity and level of performance.

The satellite was launched by the Space Directorate in the Directorate for Research and Development of Weapons and Technological Infrastructure in the Ministry of Defense, together with the IDF and the Aerospace Industry.

Various parties from the IDF are also involved in the development, including Unit 9900 in the Intelligence Division and the Air Force. Israel Aerospace Industries is the main contractor of the project and led the project in collaboration with the "Alta" division and other factories in the company.
