Between the political and budgetary bickering of the last Nice Metropolitan Council, an
“important” deliberation,
according to Christian Estrosi, concerning transport was adopted.
It will allow users of the Lignes d'Azur (RLA) network trams and buses to take the Pignes train - belonging to the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region - with the same ticket and season ticket.
“I insist, it is a fight that we have been leading for almost 15 years so that the peri-urban service provided by the Chemins de fer de Provence can be shared with the transport of the metropolis”, resumed the city councilor of Nice and president
of The city.
This deliberation was therefore tied up with the Paca Region and its president Renaud Muselier.
Christian Estrosi's political friendship with the latter facilitated this agreement.
The deputy for Transport, Gaël Nofri, presented this project,
“considering that the line of the Chemins de fer de Provence, in its urban part and along the plain of the Var, serves part of the territory of the metropolis”
.

To Utelle from July 1
From 1 July, with a tram or bus ticket (which will increase by 0.20 cents on the same date to 1.70 euros as part of a previous decision) or a current or renewed subscription of Lines of Azur, travelers can board this train to go to Utelle.
This will connect the center of Nice from the Liberation district - where the corresponding station is located - to the west of the city and therefore beyond.
The time saving is not negligible.
If it takes about 40 minutes by tram with line changes, the Pignes train reduces the journey to about twenty minutes to go to the west (Saint Isidore for example, where the Allianz Riviera stadium is located) .
For the other stops after Utelle and therefore up to
The deliberation specifies that
"the metropolis will compensate for the loss of revenue for the region on the metropolitan perimeter"
(in 2024 for the year 2023) and adds that it
"will take charge of the installation of the equipment necessary for the validation of the titles urban”
.
Gaël Nofri also announced a strengthening of the offer from this summer with four additional trains on Friday and Saturday evenings,
"until 11:57 p.m."
.
Next year, these additional trains will be in place all week except Sunday, he promises.
"It's a great step forward for our mobility
," he said satisfied before the assembly on Monday.
