So far, the discussion about open-space PV systems in Icking has focused on the location on the B11.

The municipal council did not want to discuss other potential plots of land publicly.

Icking – With mobile communications, the community of Icking has a topic that has been the subject of discussions for years.

Another controversial issue has now been added: the possible designation of areas for ground-mounted PV systems.

At the most recent meeting of the municipal council, both items were on the agenda at the same time - and there was no more space in the rows of visitors at the back of the meeting room.

Photovoltaic systems in Icking: The committee actually did not decide anything

But the committee actually didn't decide anything.

When it came to the mobile phone mast on the sports field area, which had been fought over for so long, almost all the visitors had already left.

To anticipate it, the mast is now being erected in the form of a temporary solution.

It will remain in place for two years before the final mast can be erected.

The provisional is also 30 meters high.

However, other providers cannot use it, which is already possible with the later permanent installation.

Meanwhile, the discussion about ground-mounted PV systems, which is currently taking place in almost every municipality, focuses on the location on the B11 in Icking.

There is broad agreement about two more that the Vispiron company is flirting with (we reported): the one on the ground of the formerly planned geothermal energy is conceivable;

the other at the “Kaltenbrunn” path has been abandoned.

It has become apparent several times that the municipal council is by no means in agreement about installing solar panels along the main road.

So far, however, the committee has avoided a substantive debate - and it did so this time as well.

After all, the Greens wanted to have it recorded that a negative attitude had never been formulated in the committee.

PV ground-mounted systems in Icking: the municipal council disagrees

Laura von Beckerath-Leismüller: "As far as I can remember, the mood was rather positive." In previous discussions, she and her parliamentary group had repeatedly emphasized that many citizens would not mind if electricity was generated on the B11.

Like the Greens, the Icking-Isartal energy cooperative is in favor of the system on the main road, or rather its two chairmen.

Some cooperative members think differently.

Opponents of the project have meanwhile made themselves felt.

In the past few days, flyers from an "Isartal Citizens' Initiative" have been in the mailboxes of many Ickingen households.

It lists all the arguments that, in the opinion of the initiative, speak against paving the available 5.7 hectares on the B 11.

The initiators call on the municipal council to make careful decisions.

"Let's preserve this dreamlike landscape together...!" It says, for example.

The responsible persons are also asked to "develop the planned PV open space systems in a way that is close to the citizens, sustainable and with a sense of proportion".

Mayor Verena Reithmann (UBI) led the discussion in the meeting room with appropriate caution.

With two dissenting votes, the committee members quickly decided not to publicly comb the community area for possible, less visible alternative areas.

The next public discussion should probably be possible in the citizens' meeting sometime in the summer.

Solar systems in Icking: "Totally wrong to discuss now"

The panel considered at least briefly exchanging views on the topic at the meeting, but dismissed the idea.

Vigdis Nipperdey (Ickinger Initiative), a staunch opponent of the project: "A mood query has an effect, I think that's wrong." Stefan Schneider (UBI) also thought: "It's completely wrong to discuss now."

The members then exchanged opinions, but not about the project itself, but about a suggestion from Nipperdey.

She thinks it makes sense to hire an outside office to look for alternative space.

"What we don't discuss publicly will come out anyway," she said, but couldn't convince the others.

Her colleagues expressed the view that the community itself could do this.

Later, when it comes to drawing up a partial land use plan that identifies the corresponding areas, the planning association will be involved anyway.

Schneider: "We have to watch the timeline, otherwise Berlin will overtake us." In other words, action must be taken before even more privileges for PV systems are enshrined in law.

"Giving up the planning now doesn't help us," said Julian Chucholowski (SPD).

He had already expressed his opinion about the facility: "I don't like the location."
