The partners put pressure on the PSOE to summon Rajoy in the commission of the 'sewers' of the Interior

The nationalist Ferran Bel presides over another investigation in Congress on the irregular and political use of the police by PP governments

The new commission of investigation of the police and political sewers of the Ministry of the Interior of the PP governments chaired by Mariano Rajoy was constituted this Tuesday in Congress under increasing pressure from government partners, Unidas Podemos, ERC, EH Bildu and Más País, to quote the popular ex-president in it.

The PSOE doubts and negotiates.

The decision will be made before this Thursday, when the parties have to deliver their list of requests to appear.

The PP tries to underestimate these sessions and feels persecuted.

The "committee of investigation into the actions of the Ministry of the Interior during the PP Government in relation to the alleged irregularities that link high-ranking police officers and commanders to the existence of a vigilante plot" was made up this Tuesday with the appointments of the table that will direct their work.

It will be chaired by the PDeCAT spokesman, Ferran Bel, a moderate Catalan nationalist well regarded by almost all the parties in Parliament, who was not even nominated for those sessions in principle.

Congress has already opened three similar commissions in recent years, related to the Kitchen and Catalonia operations, to investigate illegal behavior by the political and police leadership of that department under the command of former minister Jorge Fernández.

On its first day, this Tuesday, the commission only served to set a deadline until this Thursday to meet again and then close the operating schedule and to collect the lists of appearing parties that the parties will claim.

Some already have it quite clear, but others hesitate or want to better study their strategies to follow, especially considering that the commission will more than likely receive its first appearances at the beginning of May, on the eve of the electoral campaign on May 28 .

All eyes are on which petitions the PSOE will ultimately sign, which this Tuesday was limited by the mouth of its spokesperson in Congress, Patxi López, to advance that they are still weighing their position.

He did not want to be deliberately more specific.

The PSOE is also privately negotiating with some of its parliamentary allies the objectives of this work, its limits and what political utility some of those summoned can contribute in this electoral and also institutional context.

Some formations, especially Catalan nationalists and pro-independence, want to take advantage of these sessions to shed more light on the behavior of police officers from that stage of the PP in the Interior in relation to the closure of the Private Bank of Andorra (BPA).

A local court came to charge former President Rajoy,

who managed to paralyze in the Spanish courts his declaration as being investigated in the neighboring country.

The PSOE has transmitted to one of its partners that it does not want to take advantage of this commission to delve into this scandal.

In the leadership of the PSOE and in the Government they are not very clear about what Rajoy can contribute now that he had not already said in his appearance a little over a year ago in the Kitchen commission, "except for more entertainment and fun", as one leader pointed out. socialist.

The PP agrees with the PSOE only that this presence does not make much sense and points out that the Socialists and their partners are once again activating this type of political investigation in Parliament "to persecute us", according to a member of their leadership.

The popular ones even came to consider not registering their own list of appearing parties, but in the end they will reconsider that position and elaborate it "to show the defenselessness that with this commission it is only a question of roasting the PP by preventing anyone proposed by us appear”,

The PSOE remains safe and awaits how far the pressure from its allies will go in the next 24 hours.

Unidas Podemos, ERC, EH Bildu and Más País advanced this Tuesday that they understand that the summons to Rajoy is absolutely necessary to clarify the origin and meaning of some evidence, evidence, recordings of the retired commissioner José Manuel Villarejo and messages discovered in recent months by EL PAÍS and other media about the alleged use of resources from that Ministry directed by Jorge Fernández for numerous illegal operations against political adversaries of the PP.

No court has punished to date these actions carried out without judicial support.

The ERC spokesman in Congress and in that commission, Gabriel Rufián, called on the PSOE to explain why he does not want Rajoy to attend and added that he also finds it interesting that the former president of the PP, Pablo Casado, go to those sessions.

Rufián recalled that the controversial retired commissioner José Manuel Villarejo worked for many ministers of the PP and PSOE governments and ERC is considering calling those responsible for both executives.

'sewers'

“Two names that have to be there yes or yes are Fernández Díaz and Mariano Rajoy, two key elements to be able to bring to light what we all intuit, that the PP used the State sewers not only for personal enrichment, but also to

adversaries”, added the deputy of En Comú Podem, Gerardo Pisarello, secretary of the Congress Table.

In EH Bildu they also defend that the highest political and police leaders of those years "must appear".

In Más País they pointed out that it "seems good" that Rajoy be summoned, although they are still studying his demands.

Other formations, such as the CUP, doubt that the PP and PSOE will allow certain exhibitions.
