The administration sees the global political situation, rising inflation and higher construction prices as reasons.

Poing – The municipality of Poing is growing more slowly than expected.

"Because of the reduced influx in W7, the absolute numbers deviate from those of the original forecast for total Poing.

As of December 31, 2022, the deviation amounts to 398 fewer residents.” This was announced by Mayor Thomas Stark at the March meeting of the municipal council.

Reasons for the delayed move to the new development area Lerchenwinkel (W7) include the current global political situation, the associated increase in inflation, the increase in the key interest rate and the price development in the construction sector.

Accordingly, the construction progress in Lerchenwinkel is slower than assumed in the update of the population forecast up to 2035, which was presented two years ago.

In February, the municipality of Poing exceeded 17,000 inhabitants for the first time: at the end of the month, 17,031 (3,228 of them foreign nationals) were registered as having their main and/or secondary residence.

"Growth is slower," commented Mayor Stark at the municipal council meeting.

As a result, there is currently no need to change the school district, which was planned for the Am Bergfeld primary school from the 2024/25 school year.

This includes the residential areas of Zauber- and Seewinkel as well as Lerchenwinkel.

According to the administration, there is a drop of 379 inhabitants in the primary school district compared to the forecast.

This affects the occupancy figures.

"The originally assumed number of students, which would have led to the overloading of the Am Bergfeld primary school, will not be reached," said Stark.

Poing: Almost 400 fewer people than forecast

Significant deviations can be seen especially in the age groups up to three years (four cohorts who will start school from 2025).

"Here the forecast (upper variant) was based on 245 children, the actual number as of December 31, 2022 deviates by 81 downwards," says the announcement.

According to the administration, the Am Bergfeld elementary school district had a population of 2,642 as of December 31, 2022.

The forecast had assumed 3021.

This, in turn, also affects the Anni-Pickert elementary school: The assumed move of people from their district to the area of the Am Bergfeld elementary school has been delayed.

There will be no changes for the third elementary school in Poing, the one on Karl-Sittler-Strasse in the southern part of the municipality.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Ebersberg newsletter.)

As a result of the current situation, according to the administration, a change in the district will probably not be necessary before the 2028/29 school year at the earliest.

At the Anni-Pickert-School there are currently still free capacities "to ensure a school place for all primary school children even in the event of unforeseeable short-term changes or to initiate a district change ahead of time", according to the announcement by the municipality.
