A cultural meeting point is to be made from the station eyesore

For many years there have been considerations as to how the Isar Valley train station in Pullach could be upgraded. Now things are moving again.

For many years there have been considerations as to how the Isar Valley train station in Pullach could be upgraded.

Now things are moving again.

Pullach

– There is no shortage of construction projects in Pullach.

The community wants to build three new schools, the swimming pool, a family center and a youth center.

Now the FDP has applied to finally renovate the Isar Valley train station in Pullach itself, which has been rotting away for ages, so that rooms for cultural events are to be built there.

The discussion in the municipal council showed that this will not be a project that can be implemented without further ado.

Already many attempts for upgrading

Constructed in 1890, the station is an attractive building, with a large columned concourse flanked on either side by square-plan exposed brick buildings.

Again and again in the last few decades, someone from the municipal council had attempted to refurbish the property, which the railway no longer needs and which is a listed building, and make it accessible to the public.

Always unsuccessful.

Then Susanna Millennium (Greens) came to the top of the town hall, and the train station became part of a concept for the town center, where several plots of land are still unused.

A local development plan was drawn up and a working group set up to think about possible uses for the station.

For some councillors, this is happening too quickly

Unfortunately, this working group has hardly ever met, as has now been criticized by various parties at the meeting.

Overall, there were two camps in the municipal council: Some thought that the station could also be developed without knowing what would happen next with the Schäferwiese in front of it and the property of the former ducal house next to it.

A cultural use is consensus, details would arise.

The other faction complained that one should now quickly decide on the building “from the hip”.

Cornelia Zechmeister, WiP: "There's still a lot that needs to be discussed." She fears that the train station, if it is dedicated to cultural purposes, will compete with the community center.

And people who are waiting for the S-Bahn need the hall to shelter themselves.

Michael Schönlein, SPD, thought similarly: "We need an overall concept",

Decision: to renovate the station "as soon as possible".

In the end, a unanimous decision was made that vaguely stipulated that the station be renovated "as soon as possible".

Keywords for use: cultural purposes, a public waiting area, a kiosk, a public toilet, ancillary rooms.

The Greens and the FDP had spoken out in favor of the concept.

Susanna Millennial as well as the administration warned that there was no longer endless time, the station was slowly becoming dilapidated.

Building authority manager Peter Kotzur: "The hall is statically endangered." According to the mayor, the proposed use is a "first step, we need an anchor.

We're not spoiling anything."

Fabian Müller-Klug (Greens) said: "You can't speak of a quick shot, cultural needs are there." For the FDP, Alexander Betz said: "We have to do something, the whole thing can be approved." Reinhard Vennekold from the WiP warned his colleagues to tackle the renovation in any case: "The train station is an eyesore."
