A Domino's pizza receipt led to the arrest of a 12-year-old boy in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, accused of killing his adult neighbor to steal firearms, according to court documents.

The name of the boy charged with first-degree intentional murder was blacked out in the legal document obtained by NBC News Wednesday from the Milkwaukee County District Attorney's Office.

The legal text indicates that the minor allegedly killed Brandon Felton, 34, on March 15, at Felton's home.

The boy was a neighbor of the man and both played video games together.

Authorities found Felton dead in a pool of blood.

An autopsy determined that

he had died of a single gunshot wound to the head

, the document said.

A cousin of Felton's discovered his body after going to his house because he had not heard from him in days, the court text expanded.

A receipt for a pizza order was discovered near a bullet casing, the document expanded.

The receipt was for a Domino's Pizza order and showed that [the pizza] had been ordered by 'Brandy,'

" the record revealed in court.

The receipt had a phone number.

A detective, according to the document, called that number.

A "young-sounding man" responded, the text said.

The person who took the call denied knowing anyone with the name Brandy and hung up.

The boy's mother took him to speak to police on March 18, the court text said.

The boy claimed that he had learned of Felton's death from his grandmother.

He assured that the phone was his and that no one had used or borrowed it.

According to the document, the boy's account changed several times.

"Defendant continually denied that he had ordered food that night and had never done so from Felton's home. He claimed he had no idea about pizza and that Felton never used his phone to order food," the document stated.

"Defendant was then shown the receipt found at Felton's residence and asked if he knew what had happened to Felton. Defendant replied that he did not know. There he was told that Felton had been murdered. Defendant stated that she didn't know about it [even though she initially said her grandmother had told her about what happened to Felton]."

The boy admitted he had been at Felton's home with a friend of the man who the boy said had shot Felton in the back of the head, the court filing said.

The boy said that after shooting him, Felton's friend went into the room and took an AR15 rifle and a shotgun.

The boy's mother, according to the document, told police that the boy had lied to investigators.

"He and his friends went to Felton's house to buy his weapons. Felton did not sell them the weapons, so the defendant and his friends went to Felton's house to take them away," the text said.

Attorney Katie Holtz, who represents the boy, declined to comment directly on the case in an email Wednesday.

However, when asked if the child would be prosecuted as an adult, Holtz wrote: "In Wisconsin,

and the court can then be asked to to transfer the case back to the jurisdiction of the juvenile court."

Additional court records indicated that $10,000 bail had been set Monday.

During a search of the boy's phone, detectives discovered incriminating messages

sent on March 9, the court document said.

"In those messages, the defendant revealed that he has a 'play' [move], which is a street way of referring to robbery. The defendant also indicated that the 'play' was to steal a cartridge shotgun and a 'chop', another street term to refer to an AR-15 type rifle," the document said.

Other text messages on March 15 taken from the boy's phone read: "I'm going to do it to Brandan" and "Or I have to kill him rm," which was a misspelling of "right now," the text said in court.

It was not clear if anyone else had been charged in the case.

Felton's relatives could not immediately be interviewed.
