Drought: after electricity and gas, soon an Ecowatt of water

2023-03-30T17:43:37.134Z

The government intends to set up a new system by the summer to alert citizens to the “local hydrological situation”.

After the tools deployed for electricity and gas, the government now intends to tackle water.

We are going to put in place by the beginning of May an Ecowatt for water, set up by the Ministry for Ecological Transition, which will make it possible to empower everyone,

” declared Emmanuel Macron, during the presentation Thursday of his “plan water” in the Hautes-Alpes.

"

Every gesture counts

" hammered the president, who wants to set up a device similar to that for energy.

"A

tool must be available from the start of the summer, so that everyone can know the steps to take and the evolution of the situation,

" he specified.

But what will this new Eco Watt of water look like?

The Minister for Ecological Transition spoke of an "

application for water, territory by territory

".

It will more precisely be up to the prefects to “

set rules for sharing and proper use of water

”, explained Emmanuel Macron.

The government intends to deploy "

a tool that is easy to access and use

" to "

know the restrictions that apply according to its geolocation and its category of user, and the eco-gestures recommended with regard to the hydrological situation. local

”.

Ecowatt and Ecogas

With water, the government intends to continue in the same line as its predecessors: Ecowatt and Ecogaz.

Ecowatt, presented as the “

electricity weather report

” by the government, makes it possible to indicate in real time the level of electricity consumption of the French people.

The goal ?

Encourage citizens to limit their consumption, in particular when the network is under tension in order to avoid cuts.

Each day is then classified according to a color code ranging from green when the level of consumption is “

reasonable

” to red when there is a risk of a power cut.

This device is available on the MonEcoWatt website or on the application.

Launched in October 2022, Ecogaz is part of the same approach as its little brother Ecowatt.

Users can also know when to reduce their gas consumption and receive alerts in the event of a voltage on the network.

It remains to be seen whether such a device can work for blue gold.

For EcoWatt, the application currently records 3.2 million downloads.

Much more than the 700,000 downloads at the end of 2022.
