well gave

a helping hand more than anything at the start of its fourth season, which aired last year.

Many young people knew about the role-playing game, or remembered it, thanks to the Netflix series.

Now, turning the famous 1974 board game into a movie is no easy task.

You have to get your hands on characters with meat, recreate a story for them and try to maintain, so that fans don't explode on social networks, much of the real base of the game.

In the story directed by filmmakers Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley (

, 2018) a little of everything is combined.

There is of course plenty of action, but there are also moments of humor, without ever, ever reaching parody.

Watch the sequence in which the quartet of misfits must ask different corpses, waking them from their graves, where a mythical helmet was left that they need to open a certain vault, to reach their goal.

Because if the objective of any game is to win and -entertain-, this

fulfills the latter, appealing to a story of camaraderie and the search for a girl to reunite with her father.

Jason Wong takes on "Bridgerton" heartthrob Regé-Jean Page, the Londoner who will play Butch Cassidy in an upcoming streaming series.

We were talking about a quartet of characters, of whom there are two with a more leading character.

They are Edgin (Chris Pine) and Holga (Michelle Rodriguez, not only remembered for the

saga ).

They're not a couple, but friends, and she helped raise Kira (

's Chloe Coleman ) when her mother, and Edgin's beloved wife, is no longer among the living.

The problem is that, and we are not going to reveal why here, Edgin and Holga end up prisoners in a huge prison castle.

The effects are top notch.

Here, Edgin (Chris Pine) is attacked by a beast.

A year has passed, and they have the opportunity to earn their sentences pardoned (they stole, bah, hence the film's subtitle).

Once outside, both one and the other all they want is to be with Kira again.

Hugh Grant, the villain

But, and in every movie there must always be a but for the plot to (re)activate, who wants nothing to do with that is Forge Fitzwilliam (Hugh

), a companion in adventures and assaults, but now turned into a Lord.

And that he has lied to her, filled Kira's head with regard to her father.

This new fourth-rate villain for Grant has an ally, or something similar: Sofina (Daisy Head, Geny in the

series ), the Red Queen.

Are Sophia Lillis ("It"), Justice Smith (" Jurassic World") and Michelle Rodriguez running or chasing?

It does not matter.

What Edgin really wanted was to get a magical element that would allow him to bring his wife back to life.

Achieving it will be -again- one of the objectives of the game (sorry, of the film), which has enough action scenes so that the two and a quarter hours that the projection lasts do not become more eternal than it seems.

There are good effects, where they are needed.

In building the monsters they must face.

There are sword fights, a lot of magic.

The characters that complete the quartet are the young and always nervous sorcerer Simon (Justice Smith, from the last

trilogy ), unable to control his wild magic, and Doric (Sophia Lillis, Beverly in the first

), who can change shaped and animal, be it a mouse, or a kind of bear.

When it seemed that everything was resolved... The film lasts two and a quarter hours.

There's also Xenk (Regé-Jean Page, from the first season of

), who helps out in a battle with undead assassin wizards.

Whether or not this will become a franchise is for the public to decide.

That there is material to follow, know that yes, there is.
