A young man was found dead, probably from gunshot wounds, in a city in the northern districts of Marseille very affected by drug trafficking, we learned this Thursday from police and judicial sources.
The victim, a 20-year-old young man, was found on Wednesday, March 29 afternoon in a vacant lot in the city of La Paternelle, the same source said, confirming information from La Provence.
The victim was "
probably dead (since) a few days
" and the body had "
gunshot wounds
" said the Marseille prosecutor's office.
An autopsy was to be performed on Thursday.
The investigation was handed over to the federal police.
This city is one of the hotspots of drug trafficking in Marseilles and several settlings of accounts have recently been recorded there, against a backdrop of territorial struggles.
Shootings had been heard there in recent days.
If the shooting is confirmed, it would be according to an AFP count the tenth in Marseille since the beginning of the year, most against a backdrop of drug trafficking, in these housing estates in the working-class neighborhoods of the second city of France plagued by poverty, unemployment and drugs.
