The son of the deputy mayor of Nazareth, 25-year-old Ruid Awaisi, was shot to death in the city tonight (Thursday).
A medical team that arrived at the scene of the shooting treated him, and evacuated him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The police started an investigation into the circumstances of the incident, with the suspicion being that it was a murder due to a conflict between criminals.
The young man's father is Muhammad Awaisi, acting mayor from the "banned" list, and responsible for the education file.

Earlier this week, a 47-year-old acquaintance of a resident of Jadida was shot dead in the village of Rama in the Galilee.
In addition, two men in their 30s were hit by the shots, who were seriously injured and were taken to the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya.
The police started investigating the incident, with the background being a conflict between criminals.
According to Avraham Initiatives, this is the 39th Arab killed since the beginning of the year.
The organization also stated that 37 of the dead were shot to death.
Last December, a 33-year-old father and his two-year-old son, Firas and Fars Hiev, were murdered in Nazareth while they were in a car in the city.
The father died at the scene, and the toddler was taken in a very serious condition to the English Hospital in Nazareth, where he underwent emergency surgery.
He was supposed to be transferred to the Rambam Hospital for further treatment, but his condition deteriorated and later he was pronounced dead.
