Since 2018, in particular to unclog the courts, certain traffic offenses have been dealt with in the form of a fixed tort fine (AFD).
It is now possible to pay the fine in installments.
Driving a vehicle without a licence, or with a license that does not correspond to the category of the vehicle, or even without insurance, is subject to the tort fixed fine.
Payment of the fixed fine constitutes recognition of the facts and puts an end to criminal proceedings.
Due to a large number of non-payments, the public authorities have relaxed the terms of payment.
From now on, a split payment by credit card is possible within the legal limit of 60 days.
The offender can choose the terms of this payment and its splitting.
Be aware, however, that:
1. If the fine is not paid in full after 60 days, the fine will be increased on the basis of the amount still to be paid (you will receive a notice of increased fine).
2. Split payment does not apply to pre-dispute deposit.
It must be paid in full at once.
3. Once a first partial payment has been made, it is no longer possible to contest the infringement subsequently.
