In order to promote the "National Guard" to which Netanyahu committed as part of his agreements with Ben Gabir, the government is expected to approve at its weekly meeting a horizontal cut of 1.5% in the budgets of all government ministries - including the ministries of welfare, health and defense. Netanyahu: Out of national responsibility, I decided to suspend the legislation in order to reach a broad consensus (Leam)

At its weekly meeting on Sunday, the government is expected to approve a horizontal cut of 1.5% in the budgets of all government ministries, including the ministries of education, welfare, health and defense, in order to finance a budget increase of about one billion shekels for the Ministry of National Security, in favor of the establishment of the "National Guard" promoted by Minister Itamar Ben Gabir.

The cut will include approximately 285 million shekels per year from the budget of the Ministry of Defense, more than 100 million shekels from the budget of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and approximately 40 million shekels in the ministries of welfare and health.

As part of the understandings between Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Ben Gvir on delaying the legal revolution legislation, Netanyahu pledged to immediately promote the establishment of the "National Guard" - and for this an immediate budget addition of one billion shekels was agreed upon.

The increase will be financed from a horizontal cut of 1.5% in all government ministries, including from the National Insurance.

Two days ago, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed with the Minister of National Security that the government would be given an extension to the next session to pass the legal revolution legislation, in exchange for promoting the "National Guard" which will be under Ben Gabir.

This, after Ben Gvir threatened to dissolve the government if the legislation was stopped.

Ben Gvir aims to establish the "National Guard" while removing the MGB from the police, regulating it as a separate enforcement arm and subordinating the MGB commander to the minister's policy.

This will allow the Minister of National Security to determine the priorities of the MGB and, if necessary, to mobilize forces in different areas throughout the State of Israel.
