Ten years ago, Vony Sarfati bet on organizing a dance season at the TCE, inaugurated in 1913 - need we remind you - with the creation of The
Rite of Spring
by Nijinsky and Stravinsky.
A daring bet since the producer relied on the originality of her programming.
No way for her to enter into competition with Chaillot, the Théâtre de la Ville or the Palais Garnier.
She was going to bring in French or international companies in assemblies that we would not see elsewhere.
Ten years later, the conclusion is there: dancing at the TCE is like nothing else.
Next season starts with Angelin Preljocaj.
The choreographer based in Aix-en-Provence gives three ballets, from December 1 to 3:
Noces
- the season is that of the centenary of the work -,
Annunciation
, a hypnotizing duet, as well as a creation which will be presented for the first time at Montpellier Danse in June.
Boston and Oslo
On March 11 and 12, a new edition of FrancenDanses opens.
The ballets of Bordeaux, Paris, of the Rhine and the ballet Preljocaj defend their colors.
Crystal Pite then arrives as an event.
The choreographer who enchanted the Palais Garnier audience with the two creations she signed for the Paris Opera Ballet also signed a masterpiece for the Royal Ballet in London: Light of
Passage
.
The play had been a triumph.
It has been taken over by the Norwegian Ballet, which will come to dance it at the TCE, thus allowing, from April 4 to 7, its French premiere.
Light of Passage
is a long-term opus in the work of the Canadian choreographer.
In 2017, for the company Kidd Pivot, she signed
Flight Pattern
on the migration crisis.
As this has only grown, Crystal Pite has increased her choreography.
Ground waves, solidarities, falls, groups and loneliness: his writing serves the drama it evokes wonderfully.

The season ends with a newcomer from Boston Ballet from May 27 to 30: he will dance William Forsythe's long-awaited
Blake Works III
, a sequel to
Blake Works I
, a dazzling creation by the American choreographer for the Paris Opera Ballet. in July 2016. He develops on the songs of James Blake sequences of steps, transmitted by the ballet masters.
Opening, the
Bach Cello Suites
by Jorma Elo.
And in closing, one of the most fascinating works of the 20th century repertoire:
Bella Figura
by Jiri Kylian, who opened TranscenDanses ten years ago.
Mirror Beauty, and God knows if beauty is bizarre.
