The widow of the writer Jorge Luis Borges did not leave her legacy in writing, opening controversy over the rights of the author of 'El Aleph'.

Maria Kodama did not leave a will.

This was confirmed by her lawyer Fernando Soto.

As Clarín was able to learn, it is a "vacant inheritance", which would remain in the hands of the State where she was based, in this case the City of Buenos Aires.

María Kodama's lawyer, Fernando Soto, summoned different media on Monday to his office in Corrientes at 1600. There he announced that the widow of Jorge Luis Borges did not leave any will, opening a controversy over the rights of the Argentine's work .

"She told me that 'she had everything arranged', that whoever was going to succeed her was going to be 'even stricter than her' in defending Borges's work", she says in the letter that Soto released on the occasion of initiating the succession by "vacant estate".

"On the day of his death," the letter continues, "pain invaded us, and we only took care of caring for the intimacy of his death, respecting his desire to preserve his moments of illness and pain away from journalism. After those moments, I began to to find out about the existence of a will and I asked the Vidaurre school about it, but my surprise was great when they told me that they did not have any will and that they continued to safeguard all of María Kodama's property titles".

She adds: "Then I spoke with who should be the person chosen to be her heir, and she told me that indeed María Kodama had expressed to her that she wanted to make a will in her favor with legacies to foreign universities, and to people of her friendship leaving her assets of Jorge Luis Borges and his property. But, unfortunately, due to the progress of his last illness, he did not come to specify the will that he wanted to make."
