Four people died this Monday morning in the tourist area of Cancun, Quintana Roo, on the Mexican Caribbean coast.
At least three of them received bullet wounds, state authorities reported.
The State Attorney General's Office indicated that it had arrested two people allegedly related to the shooting at kilometer 16.5 of Boulevard Kukulcán in the Benito Juárez municipality.
Authorities said they are working to clarify the facts.

Local media indicated that they were murdered on the beach in front of one of the most renowned hotels in the tourist area of Cancun, the
Fiesta Americana Condesa hotel.
According to the newspaper El Universal, the authorities were alerted because gunshots were heard and one person was reported dead.
But when the agents of the Ministry of Public Security arrived, they found the bodies of three people between the ages of 25 and 30, who were shot dead.

The deaths occurred at the beginning of Holy Week, which is one of the seasons with the highest influx of tourists in that resort and days after the state government announced a security plan for the season, with the deployment of more than 5,000 agents

The State Secretariat of Tourism (Sedetur) foresees the arrival of 1.25 million tourists for the season.

In the middle of last month the US State Department issued a travel advisory for Americans planning to spend spring break in the Mexican Caribbean including Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum.
Jorge Aguilar Osorio, general secretary of the Cancun City Council, assured this weekend that the state of Quintana Roo is safe to travel during Holy Week.
In recent years there have been several acts of violence on the Caribbean coast, which is the most important area for the tourist industry in Mexico.
In 2022, two Canadians were murdered in Playa del Carmen, apparently for debts between international drug organizations and arms trafficking.
And in 2021, two tourists—an Indian-born California travel blogger and a German—were killed in Tulum when they were apparently caught in the crossfire of a standoff between rival drug traffickers.
