The mysterious disappearance of
Agnès Le Roux
hit the headlines in Nice in the 1970s. Her mother, Renée Le Roux, was the first female director of a casino - the coveted Palais de la Méditerranée in Nice - and hated by the mafia of the time reigning over the Côte d'Azur.
Fifty years after this tragedy, the director Vincent Garenq decided to draw inspiration from this news item and from the book
Agnès Leroux – Investigation into the disappearance of a young rich woman
by Roger-Louis Bianchini to make
a mini-series of it.

A part of shadow
As a reminder, it all started with a war of gaming clans opposing Renée Le Roux - who reigns supreme over the Le Palais de la Méditerranée casino - to Jean-Dominique Fratoni - sulphurous owner of the neighboring casino and friend of Jacques Médecin, mayor of Nice from 1966 to 1990. The woman and mother of four children has been fighting for several years against the takeover of the establishment inherited from her husband.

But everything changed in 1977 when her eldest daughter, Agnès, then aged 29, with whom she was in conflict, sold her shares in the casino to her opponent.
Betrayal or manipulation of her lover, Maurice Agnelet, former family lawyer?
The mystery remains intact.
Renée Le Roux loses her establishment and it is in this context that, three months later in October, her daughter disappears.
For her, there is no doubt.
Everything was engineered by his lawyer.
Even today, a dark side remains present.

This is not the first time the case has been brought to the screen.
In 2014, almost ten years ago now, André Téchiné had chosen to tell this war of clans with a macabre outcome.
This was a film,
The Man We Loved Too Much
, with Guillaume Canet, Catherine Deneuve and Adèle Haenel in the main roles.
