Following the initiative of Member of Knesset Hili Trooper, heads of authorities join the call to set off silent fireworks on the eve of Independence Day out of consideration for those suffering from post-trauma and battle shock

Quite a few thoughtful and progressive authorities in Israel have decided to join large authorities that have decided not to set off fireworks on Independence Day out of consideration for people dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder and battle shock.

Now Rishon LeZion, Givatayim and Modi'in are also announcing that they will set off silent fireworks during the Independence Day celebrations.

For the first time this year, the Rishon Lezion Municipality will hold silent fireworks on Independence Day out of consideration for people suffering from post-trauma and battle shock, the elderly, people with special needs, children, people with anxiety and sensory regulation problems, and animals.

Following requests from residents, the mayor of Rishon Lezion, Raz Kinstlich, instructed already last year to prepare and order for the upcoming Independence Day quiet fireworks whose noise intensity is reduced.

We note that the silent fireworks are colorful and similar in effect to the regular fireworks.

Mayor Raz Kinstlich: "We listened to the residents and residents who contacted us and decided to set off silent fireworks this year out of respect and consideration for people suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, people with special needs, the elderly, children as well as animals. The effect of the fireworks on those populations is clear to us and causes real distress.

"I invite everyone to come and rejoice and celebrate the 75th anniversary of the State of Israel and the 140th anniversary of Rishon LeZion in the many events and activities we have organized for you throughout the city.

I'm sure the celebrations will be happy and enjoyable even with silent fireworks."
