Manuel Bompard says it bluntly: “
It's a defeat.
On the occasion of the partial legislative election in the 1st constituency of Ariège, two candidates faced each other: the Insoumise, Bénédicte Taurine, and the dissident socialist, Martine Froger.
It is the latter which emerges as the winner of the second round, with more than 60% of the votes.
Invited to Public Senate, the coordinator of La France insoumise thus deplored this result: “
Obviously, the Macronist voices, from the right and from the far right, have gathered around this dissident candidacy.
“ Manuel Bompard regrets what he considers to be a “coalition of circumstance” whose objective was to “
beat the candidate of Nupes
”.
The deputy of Bouches-du-Rhône also believes that if the boss of the PS, Olivier Faure, has, during this campaign, "
kept his word
" by remaining faithful to the Nupes agreement, the rose party must “
say clearly what its orientation is
”: “
Either it is in favor of Nupes, or it does not want it.
“Thus targeting the Socialists hostile to the left alliance, including Carole Delga.
The president of the Occitanie region, who supported Martine Froger, thus welcomed the victory of the latter, specifying however: "
I am for the union of the left, but I do not submit to the ideas of La France insoumise
" .
Thus Manuel Bompard responds: “
You cannot have two opposing orientations in a political party.
“And to add:”
I can understand that the Socialists are wondering about the Nupes agreement but last year, there would have been no Socialist group in the National Assembly without an agreement.
»
As for Martine Froger, once in Parliament, in which group will she sit?
“
The Socialists have answered this question: the press release published by the management states that we have lost a member of the Nupes
”, retorts Manuel Bompard.
“
By this I mean that the newly elected MP will not be a member of any of the Nupes groups.
“And if the elected rebellious instructs the Socialists to “
settle
” their affairs,
“it seems obvious that a candidate whose election was hailed by Mr.
Dussopt and Mr.
Odoul [deputy RN] has no place in one of the Nupes groups
.
