At least 16 people were injured on Monday in a bomb attack targeting a bus in southern Syria near the Jordanian border, the official Syrian news agency reported, blaming the attack on "terrorists

Sixteen employees of the joint Syrian-Jordanian free zone were injured after terrorists planted an explosive device in the bus in which they were traveling,
" the SANA agency said.
Unstable area
The attack took place in an area of Deraa province, "
near the Saida bridge on the Damascus-Amman highway
" according to the agency.
The situation in Deraa province, the cradle of the anti-regime uprising launched in 2011, remains unstable despite the return of government forces in July 2018. The Islamic State (IS) group, whose third leader was killed in Deraa last October sometimes claims attacks in the region.

Monday's attack comes the day after a rare car bomb attack rocked the capital Damascus.
No deaths were reported in this attack which has not been claimed.
On January 30, fifteen members of the Syrian internal security forces were injured when a bomb exploded that targeted their bus on the Damascus-Deraa highway as they were returning from a mission in the province of Deraa, had then indicated the Ministry of the Interior.
Syria has been ravaged since 2011 by a civil war which has become more complex over the years with the intervention of several countries and foreign armed groups.
The conflict has killed around 500,000 people, devastated the country's infrastructure and displaced millions of people.
