Two civilians were killed on Tuesday (April 4th) in an Israeli strike in Syria, the fourth such attack in less than a week, the Syrian state agency SANA announced.
"At 12:15 a.m. (9:15 p.m. GMT Monday) the Israeli enemy carried out an airstrike (...) and the attack resulted in the death of two civilians
," SANA said, citing a military source.
Israeli strikes were launched from the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights and
"targeted areas around Damascus and in the southern region"
, SANA continued, adding that the Syrian air defense had intercepted
"most of them"
.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH),
"Israeli missiles targeted the area of Damascus International Airport, an Iranian compound near the Sayyidah Zeinab sector"
and another location in al-Kiswah.
At least two of the missiles were intercepted, added the OSDH, an organization based in London and which has an extensive network of sources in Syria.
This is the fourth Israeli raid against Syria in six days.
In recent years, Israel has carried out hundreds of airstrikes in Syria against positions of the regime, but also against those of Iranian forces and Hezbollah, allies of Damascus and sworn enemies of Israel.
