It was a busy night in New York City, in the hours leading up to Tuesday, when former President Donald Trump turned himself in to authorities and heard more than
30 counts of fraud against him.
Protesters, Trump supporters and members of the media
camped out in front of Trump Tower
, where the former president spent the night, and
the Manhattan Courthouse
, where he was expected in the afternoon.

New York police and security services flooded the city, with
barricades
erected around the Manhattan courthouse.
Barricades were also in place around Trump Tower, and many streets in the area
were also closed.
Other courtrooms in the building are also expected to be closed for Trump's appearance.

In addition,
there were "dozens and dozens" of secret agents
deployed in the area.
New York Mayor Eric Adams warned Monday that people who protest violently during Trump's court appearance
would be arrested and held accountable, "no matter who they are."
protests
NYPD braces for protests by Trump supporters who share the former Republican president's belief that the New York grand jury indictment and three additional pending investigations are politically motivated and aimed at undermining his bid to retake
the
House White in 2024.
A march to repudiate his prosecution has already been called and will march towards the courts at 1:00 p.m. in Argentina.

what are you accused of
The indictment against Trump contains
multiple counts of falsifying business records
, including at least one felony, two people familiar with the matter told The Associated Press last week.
After the arraignment, authorities are expected to release Trump because the charges against him
do not require bail to be set.
The investigation analyzes
the six-figure payments
made to the porn actress Stormy Daniels and the former Playboy model Karen McDougal, so that they silence alleged sexual encounters with Trump at the time of the electoral campaign.
The payments were made by his lawyer and disguised as "fees", hence the fraud, with the aggravating circumstance that it was done with an ulterior motive, to hide information for the presidential campaign.
Both women say they had sexual encounters with Trump, who denies those relationships, and denies having committed any crime related to payments.
Trump, a former reality TV star, has been exaggerating that narrative
for his political gain
, saying he raised $8 million in less than a week since his impeachment over allegations of a "witch hunt."
He attacked the Manhattan district attorney,
incited supporters to protest
and claimed without evidence that the judge presiding over the case "hates me," something his own lawyer has said is not true.
Trump is scheduled to return to his Palm Beach, Florida, Mar-a-Lago home Tuesday night
for a rally
, highlighting his new reality: submitting to the harsh demands of the American criminal justice system while projecting an aura defiance and victimhood at campaign celebration events.
For his Tuesday afternoon press conference, at least
500 prominent supporters
have been invited , with some of the most pro-Trump congressional Republicans expected to attend.
