Freising

– Minister of State Florian Herrmann accused Hörgertshausen Mayor Michael Hobmaier of “outrageous nonsense”, “fictitious horror scenarios” and “clumsy emotionalisation” in the drinking water dispute.

The head of the state chancellery and member of the Freisinger state parliament has now responded to FT's request.

There is no apology from Florian Herrmann, as demanded by municipal representatives of the district.

At least he explained why his response to the mayor's criticism was so emotional: "Mr. Hobmaier presented the planned changes in the LEP factually incorrect and completely exaggerated.

His assumption that the CSU would weaken drinking water protection was simply wrong.

It was therefore necessary and important to me to clearly point out that drinking water protection will be strengthened by the LEP.”

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

In the meantime, Prime Minister Markus Söder himself has had the applications withdrawn, which, among other things, should have given priority to groundwater for food and beverage manufacturers.

Thus, according to Herrmann, "we have ended speculation that - although factually incorrect - could have called into question the protective character of the water".

The drinking water dispute was opened about two weeks ago by Hörgertshausen Mayor Michael Hobmaier.

On the occasion of Water Day, he warned that state government applications for the state development plan would weaken drinking water protection.

However, the criticism from the head of the town hall was directed solely at the CSU, although the initiative was also supported by the coalition partner, the Free Voters.

Herrmann then put up a fight in a sometimes harshly worded press release and defended the advance.

The changes that the government factions - including the Free Voters, to which Mr. Hobmaier himself belongs - have introduced into the process are the result of a social discussion and represent a compromise between the various interests." After Söder himself had arranged for the withdrawal of the applications , Hobmaier had demanded an apology from Herrmann in a specially convened press conference with other mayors.
