Video | What is a Grand Jury and how has it investigated Donald Trump?

2023-04-04T05:14:27.885Z

The lawyer and collaborator of Agenda Pública, Pedro Soriano, explains the operation of an institution that only exists in Anglo-Saxon law

The Grand Jury is an institution of Anglo-Saxon origin that has been disappearing from all countries except two, the United States and Liberia, which is still a country that was created by former slaves from America.

It is an institution of citizens who are randomly designated to carry out an investigation that may end in an accusation.

How is this appointment made? How do they work? Are they truly independent or could they have an ideological bias?

The lawyer and collaborator of Public Agenda, Pedro Soriano, answers these questions in the video that leads this news and analyzes the impartiality of this body of the judiciary.

“That there is an ideological bias is possible for a very simple reason.

The Grand Jury has been chosen on the island of Manhattan, which is one of the great Democratic strongholds of the United States.

For that reason alone, there can inevitably be more Democrats than Republicans," concludes Soriano.
