The first weekend of April, Alexandre spent it in his second home in La Turballe (Loire-Atlantique).
This management controller, installed in Nantes for a few years, had not planned it at the base.
In addition to the possibility of breathing the air of the open sea, what motivated him was to be able to breathe better in his accommodation.
“I went to throw diapers on the coast”
, he summarizes, annoyed.
On the coast, the bins do not overflow and the collection of household waste is carried out as usual.
On Saturday, his car trunk was loaded with bags of trash.
“My trash can is full and I don't want to put my garbage at the end of the street because the containers are already overflowing.
I don't want to clutter the sidewalks with smelly bags
,” he explains.
Finding his
"citizen approach"
, he also does it for one of his neighbors.
Octogenarian, his house is at the foot of the pile of waste.

Bins on the doorstep
“She no longer dares to open her windows on the ground floor because of the smells because some are showing incivility.
They don't hesitate to drop off very smelly bags anyhow,”
he stings.
“She also finds it difficult to leave her house because there are garbage cans in front of her front door
,” he describes with bitterness and disgust.
Alexandre plans to return to the coast this weekend.
Once again, he will load his car with garbage bags to drop them off at La Turballe.
According to him, the household waste situation in Nantes
“is deteriorating day by day”
and he does not see how the City
“will be able to become clean again”
.
In particular, he points the finger at those who take advantage of the situation to deposit bulky items or various objects in the piles of garbage.

Garbage bag carpooling
His testimony might seem singular.
He is not.
Within twenty-four hours,
Le Figaro
received several similar stories.
The reason given: after three weeks of garbage collectors' strike in Nantes, the resumption of collections, which began on March 30, is far from smooth.
A situation which results in particular from the daily blockages undertaken by opponents of the pension reform near two incinerators located on the outskirts of the city.
Dump trucks therefore need the intervention of the police to clear them on the way.
Among similar personal experiences, there is that of Agnès.
Living in Nantes for twenty years, she says she sees for the
“first time so many trash cans in the streets
”.
In her neighborhood of Sainte-Thérèse, she lives in a cul-de-sac.
The containers have been overflowing there for several days.
Rather than
"letting the children play in the middle of the bins"
and increasing the pile of rubbish, she decided to throw her rubbish in a
"family house"
in La Baule: "
Through my work, I moves a lot so I can do it.
By the way, I take the opportunity to file that of neighbors.
A sort of garbage carpool.
Among her acquaintances, she is not the only one to use this technique to get rid of her waste.
"Discussing at the exit of the gym, I realized that we were several to do that
," she explains.
She evokes
"girlfriends"
who went to deposit their garbage with
"parents"
whether in Pornic or Savenay, while recognizing that this amounts to placing the burden of household waste management on other communities.
As for the tax paid in Nantes, she intends to make a
"written request"
to the town hall to obtain
"exemption from the period when the collection was not made"
.

Bins on the luggage rack
Victor is a student at the University of Nantes.
PhD student, he lives in a small 20m2 apartment near the Tertre campus.
Calling himself
"committed to the climate cause"
and the protection of the environment, he does not plan to see
"his waste fly away and end up in the waterways"
.
Problem: in his residence, the garbage cans are overflowing and difficult to store in his small accommodation.
A few days ago, he took advantage of a trip - by bike - to his parents who live about twenty kilometers away to drop two trash bags loaded on his luggage rack.
“My mother asked me what I was carrying. She quickly understood when she saw the blue and yellow bags.
She knew that it was a hassle in Nantes with the trash cans
, ”he says.
Claiming to be
"solidarity"
with the garbage collectors, he now pleads for a major cleaning of the city.
A task for which he would like to see the inhabitants mobilize:
“Many people say they support the strike movement.
Now that it is lifted, solidarity would help the agents to clean the streets of Nantes
.
He says he is ready to do so
“to preserve nature and animals”
.
