The fire broke out around midnight in a language laboratory, on the second floor of a building of the faculty of human sciences.
A dozen firefighters were mobilized and the fire was quickly brought under control, said Sdis.
The technical and scientific police also went on site.
The probable arsonists captured by video surveillance
According to a judicial source, five cars, parked in different places, were also set on fire.
In the language laboratory, “
the fire started in a paper cupboard.
According to the conclusions of the firefighters, there is a high probability of a criminal act
, “said Michel Deneken, the president of the university, to AFP.
“
Viewing the CCTV tapes shows a silhouette coming out of the building at the time of the declaration of the fire.
Everything converges on the incendiary journey of someone, or a few

He indicated that the university had lodged a complaint and estimated that the damage caused, between computer equipment, electrical networks, ceilings and walls, could amount to between “200,000 and
300,000 euros
”.
The building will remain closed until Tuesday, but the floor affected by the flames is not expected to reopen until the next academic year.
An investigation was opened, entrusted to the Strasbourg police station.
These fires come as damage was committed on and near the university campus following the latest demonstrations in Strasbourg against the pension reform, by groups who had left the planned route.
“
We had completely wild and uncontrollable procession tails.
There is probably a climate of violence which can arouse pyromania in unbalanced people
, ”noted Michel Deneken.
