Drinking wine or must is an integral part of the holiday meal on Seder night, but what to do if you didn't notice and it spilled on the carpet or on the clothes? Don't worry, that's what we're here for

How to remove a wine stain (@hollyauna)

Seder night passed and this means, among other things, that we all drank at least four glasses of wine or must (and then we waited for Elijah the prophet).

Wine indeed makes the human heart happy, but a stain of wine makes the soul a little less happy.

We all know that moment when you discover that the festive outfit you were wearing has a wine stain on it that you didn't notice in real time.

What to do?

Even wine spilled on the carpet during the meal causes a lot of headache.

But don't worry, it turns out there is a simple trick to removing stubborn wine stains from carpet fabric.

A dry cleaning expert uploaded a video to TikTok in which he revealed how to get rid of a wine stain on the carpet with the help of seven steps that must be applied precisely and with a lot of patience.

1. Use a piece of cloth or a dry rag to absorb as much wine as possible from the carpet.

2. Remove the rag and pour some cold water on the stain.

3. Cover the stain area with salt until the wine is almost gone.

4. Let the salt sit on the stain for at least 5 minutes to dissolve it.

If the stain is more stubborn, give the salt even a few hours to a whole night.

5. After waiting, pour cold water on the stain again.

6. You can also use fabric softener when you wash the stain.

7. When the salt dries, use a vacuum cleaner or brush the place and repeat the operation if necessary.

did not work?

There is another method to clean the wine stain on the carpet.

Use a towel to absorb the wine from the carpet until the area is almost completely dry.

Then wet it with soda water and dry it again.

Now use water and repeat the drying process.

But what happens if the wine spills on our clothes - which is a more logical scenario?

Don't worry, there is a solution for this too.

First of all do not use white wine or salt.

Instead, soak the stained garment in cold water for about half an hour.

After that you can use washing powder and let it soak into the stain.

You can replace it with a little hydrogen peroxide and soak the garment in the mixture for three hours.

Then wash the garment in cold water.

If the stain is gone, you can put the garment in the washing machine on a hot water program.

When you wash the garment, of course adhere to the precautions required when operating the washing machine so as not to damage the garment.

Pay attention, do not put the garment in the dryer if the stain has not been completely removed - because when the garment is dry it is most likely that the stain will survive forever on the fabric.

And let's bust some myths

Does salt really remove red wine?

Cleaning experts claim that adding salt will do no harm, but it is simply a waste because the salt does not contribute to the cleaning process.

Does white wine remove red wine?

It turns out that this is another myth that needs to be shattered.

White wine does not contribute to the removal of red wine more than water or soda.

This old trick was created simply because white wine was available on the table at dinner, but it really doesn't help.

What do you do with a red wine stain that won't come off?

If all the methods we listed here do not help, your solution is probably bleach.

It will probably remove the stain, but it can also remove the color from the garment.

Our advice?

Maybe it's not such a good idea to wear a white shirt to the holiday dinner in combination with drinking a glass of wine.
