The number of crimes in the district north has skyrocketed.

The current police safety report shows 1912 cases for 2022.

The number of injuries increased at the train station.

And: Many citizens were called by telephone scammers.

Holzkirchen

– crooks and scammers have discovered a lucrative scam.

Via call centers from abroad, they try to entice older citizens into handing over cash, jewelery or sensitive bank details by making shock calls or by faking a “police investigation”.

In the Security Report 2022, which the Holzkirchen police have now published, these offenses fall into the area of property and counterfeiting offences.

As Robert Hirschel, deputy head of inspection, explained, 447 cases were prosecuted - 45 percent more than in 2021. "This is largely due to fraud attempts via telephone."

The masterminds are often based abroad.

At least the Holzkirchner investigators had a small success when they were able to arrest three Hungarians in the municipality of Warngau in June when they were handing over cash.

"It would be important to report every fraudulent call to the police," says Hirschel, "so we can determine whether the phenomenon occurs frequently in the service area and take prompt action."

Last but not least, the many telephone fraudsters caused a record number of 1912 crimes in the north of the district in the previous year - over 500 more than in 2021 and also significantly more than in the period before Corona (2019: 1231).

The figures from the Holzkirchen PI concern the communities of Holzkirchen, Otterfing, Valley, Warngau and Weyarn (210 square kilometers) with a total of 32,800 inhabitants.

According to statistics, the patrols went out to 4052 missions in the previous year.

The destination was very often the Holzkirchner train station.

"There, the assault offenses have increased," reports Hirschel.

This pushed the street crime statistics, which particularly influence the population's sense of security, to 275 crimes (plus 77 compared to 2021).

"We will now show an even greater presence at the station together with DB Sicherheit," announces Hirschel.

The 2022 statistics also show a marked increase in damage to property – including graffiti, for example – and in theft.

Thieves struck exactly one hundred times in the north of the district (2012: 68 thefts).

"Stolening from companies or construction sites was strikingly frequent," says Hirschel.

A total of 841 suspects were targeted by the Holzkirchner investigators in 2022, most of them (82 percent) were men.

According to Hirschel, more than a quarter of the suspects were under the age of 21, up to this age juvenile criminal law can still be applied.

Mainly young people and adolescents were caught in thefts.

An increase in violent crimes or the increased dissemination of pornographic images, as has recently become known in the case of underage offenders in cities, is not yet a major issue in the Holzkirchen police department.

“Big cities are more likely to be affected by this development,” Hirschel suspects.

In road traffic, the police identified two focal points last year.

It crashed particularly often on the B 318 near Marschall and Reitham, in each case in the area of the gas stations.

By the way: Everything from the region is also available in our regular Holzkirchen newsletter.
