Jessika's death makes Markus Kofler difficult to create during the 14th "Bergretter" season.
However, there is a surprising twist in the season finale.
Ramsau – After the last season of “Der Bergdoktor” came up with one drama after the other, the new “Bergretter” episodes also started with a bang.
Jessika Pollath (Maxi Warwel, 40) dies in a daring rescue operation - for the main character Markus Kofler (Sebastian Ströbel, 46) a heavy blow that accompanies him until the final episode.

First Jessika dies the serial death, shortly afterwards her friend Simon Plattner (Ferdinand Seebacher, 33) from Ramsau says goodbye.
Markus Kofler, who does everything possible to find Jessi's body, puts a lot of strain on the situation.
He even suffers so much from it that he wants to go to Nepal with Nina (Josephin Busch, 36) and leave his life in the Alps.

In the season finale "Grüner Mond", which is already available in the ZDFmediathek before it is broadcast on April 13th, everything turns out very differently for Markus.
Because, although he is standing on the platform with Nina and has already found a successor in the mountain rescue service in Tobi (Markus Brandl, 48), he decides against leaving Ellmau and remains on the track.
"I thought if I ran away, then I could escape from everything," he explains to his friends Katharina (Luise Bähr, 43), Tobi, Michael (Robert Lohr, 55) and Rudi (Michael Pascher, 43), who happily greet him at the station to receive.
"But the thing is, you're my family.
The only one I've ever had and that's why my home is where you are."
Curious: “Bergretter” darling has the same name as the mountain doctor
In 38 episodes, Andreas Marthaler (Martin Gruber, 52) led the “Bergretter” team until he fell to his death under dramatic circumstances in episode 6 of the sixth season (“Cut off”).
Especially attentive ZDF viewers should have noticed: The former "Bergretter" main actor has a prominent namesake.
The mountain doctor embodied by Hans Sigl (53) in the series of the same name is also called Martin Gruber.

BEWARE, SPOILERS:
In the final moments of the 14th "Bergretter" season, there is an unexpected turn in the Jessika case.
A police officer hands Markus a walkie-talkie found at a reservoir in the mountains.
He immediately recognizes that this is exactly the radio that Jessi was carrying during her last mission and her fatal fall.
"Shall we bring Jessi home?" he asks before the five mountain rescuers step towards their next adventure with determined looks.

Jessika's supposed death in the first episode of the new season came as a big shock to many "Bergretter" fans.
But at the very end of the final episode, Markus Kofler and his colleagues stumble upon a new lead.

It is unlikely that Jessika is still alive – after all, Maxi Warwel officially said goodbye to the ZDF home series after the broadcast of her final episode.
But she still didn't want to close the door completely: "And who knows, maybe Jessi will show up again at some point?" Her "Bergretter" colleague Sebastian Ströbel already has a new role on ZDF.
