On
April 11
, the Argentine Agrarian Federation (FAA) will mobilize in the city of Buenos Aires to
demand urgent measures to alleviate the critical situation of producers affected by the drought
.
The date was agreed after a round of consultation with directors of the entity that took place yesterday.
The protest measure had been voted on in an assembly of farmers organized by the FAA on February 28 in Villa Constitución, Santa Fe, given the lack of response from the national government to a historic drought that devastated crops and pastures, caused a serious deterioration of cattle, forced the early sale of animals and caused a great death of cattle in most of the productive area of the country.
The
delegation of federated leaders
that will march to the Capital
it will take a "
rescue request for producers in emergency
" to the Executive and Legislative powers.
First of all, at 11 in the morning on Tuesday, April 11, they will deliver it to the
Ministry of Economy
and later they will present it to the
Chamber of Deputies.
Among other urgent points, they have been requesting the suspension of embargoes, the exemption from the payment of income tax and its advances, the suspension of the blocking of accounts and the constraints of the banks, and that the aid promised in the form of Contributions be specified. Non-reimbursable for producers.
They will also ask for substantive measures such as the modification of the emergency law, a plan to eliminate export duties, the end of the exchange differential, multi-risk insurance and a comprehensive and progressive tax reform.
The FAA informed the Liaison Table of its resolution to mobilize Buenos Aires on April 11 with these claims and now, the other three agricultural entities that make it up will evaluate whether or not to accompany the federated members, a decision that they must make in their respective Boards of Directors that will meet in the coming days, although at the moment there does not seem to be a consensus to do so.
