About two months ago, the police arrested a 25-year-old resident of Petah Tikva on suspicion of harming his eight-month-old infant daughter, after she was diagnosed in the hospital with bleeding and internal fractures in several parts of her body.
The police were called to Schneider Medical Center and arrested the father.
The toddler was brought to the hospital due to a respiratory problem, but a comprehensive examination by the medical staff found that she was suffering from internal bleeding and fractures.
The suspected father will be brought later today for a hearing on the extension of his detention in the city court.
Attorney Nitzan Beilin, who represents the father from the public defender's office, said: "This is a dedicated father, who called the MDA as soon as he noticed that the girl was in distress. He was arrested at the hospital when he was at his daughter's bedside. The court, after reviewing the investigation materials and medical documents, determined that there is no suspicion that warrants arrest, and that the bruises are old and from a time when the daughter was not in his custody. That is why he ordered his release. The father will now be able to return to being with his daughter and we hope that she will recover soon."
