The entrance to the town hall of Bordeaux, set on fire by opponents of the pension reform, will it be consolidated and kept as it is, renovated identically or replaced by a contemporary work?
Pierre Hurmic, the city councilor, announced in city council this Wednesday that it would be up to the people of Bordeaux to decide.
“
They were very touched that we were attacking their town hall.
I share their emotion and their indignation.
The door of the common house of Bordeaux will be chosen by them
, ”said the elected EELV.
Before adding: “
I do not want to make a decision without consulting our fellow citizens.
»
A choice which will be framed by the expert report of a heritage architect - the conclusions of which will be made public in mid-May.
The three renovation options will also have to be validated by the Drac and the Bâtiments de France before being submitted to local consultation.
For the moment, the terms of this consultation remain "
undefined
", specifies the town hall of Bordeaux in

.
A facade estimated at 3 million euros
Estimated at 2.9 million euros in the filing of a complaint by the City consulted by the Bordeaux prosecutor's office, the facade and the peristyle of the Palais Rohan date from the 18th century.
Its framing stones, secured the day after the fire to allow the opening of the premises, were seriously damaged.
“
At this stage, we cannot make any estimate on the amount and schedule of the work
,” insisted Pierre Hurmic.
Stressing that Bordelais and tourists stop daily to see the damage done by the arsonists, the city councilor already promises that even if it is replaced, this charred door will be preserved.
It could become the object of an artistic creation or be exhibited in a museum because "
it now belongs to the common history of the people of Bordeaux
".
