'Please wear sunscreen': Hugh Jackman does UV prevention after cancer screening

2023-04-06T17:22:13.925Z

On Instagram, the actor reveals he's been screened for skin cancer and begs his fans to wear sunscreen this summer.

Dermatologists insist on saying it: exposure to the sun is harmful to your health.

Not only do UV rays accelerate skin aging, but they can also cause serious diseases like skin cancer.

For once, it is not a health professional who reiterates this speech, but Hugh Jackman.

Far from making a product placement for a sunscreen or a brand of cosmetics, the Australian actor wants to share his bad experience to encourage his fans to protect themselves when the good weather arrives.

The hero of

X-Men

posted a video on his Instagram account this Tuesday, April 4, where he appears facing the camera, with a bandage stuck on his nose.

“I wanted you to find out from me, in case anyone saw me on the street or anything.

I just did two biopsies.

I went to my doctor”, he announces to his 31 million subscribers on the social network.

“And she saw little things that she thought might or might not be basal cells [carcimona].

I'll find out in a few days and as soon as I find out, I'll let you know."

The “least dangerous” cancer

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC), referred to by Hugh Jackman, is the most common form of skin cancer and the most common form of all cancers (1).

"It's the least dangerous of all," he says in his video.

Before giving a good advice to avoid finding himself in the same situation as him: "If I can just take this opportunity to remind you that summer is coming for those of us [who live] in the northern hemisphere .

Please wear sunscreen,” he urged.

And to send the injunction to the tanned skin: "It's just not worth it.

No matter how badly you want to tan, trust me, trust me, trust me.

The interpreter of Wolverine admits himself to suffer the consequences of his previous negligence.

"This is [the result of] everything that has happened in these 25 years and it is happening now," he laments.

Indeed, already in 2013, he had been treated for a first skin cancer and has undergone at least six operations since.

“I know you've heard me talk about my basal cell carcinomas before.

I will continue to talk about it, if need be.

And if it reminds even one person to put on sunscreen with a high SPF, then I'm happy,” he wrote in the caption of his post.

To end on a touch of humor, the father of two children concludes by assuring his subscribers that a small layer of sun protection on the skin will not spoil their summer: “You will still have incredible moments outside!

All right ?

Please be careful,” he insists.

The video, already viewed more than 8 million times, has attracted the sympathy of Internet users who are grateful for this speech and address their "prayers" to him.

Negative test

The day after the publication of his video, Hugh Jackman revealed the results of his biopsies in a “story” posted on his Instagram account.

"Negative!", He wrote, thanking his fans for their "love" and the media for relaying his "very important message".

And to conclude again: "Please remember to wear sunscreen with a high level of SPF, regardless of the season."

We can only approve.
