At Prince Rainier's memorial service, Charlène suddenly showed up with the Monegasque princely family with unusual cordiality.

Monaco – After 56 years of reign, Monaco was deeply shaken by the death of Prince Rainier (81, † 2005), his daughter Stéphanie von Monaco (58) was close to collapse.

Among the guests at the memorial service on April 6 was Charlène of Monaco (45) in the Cathedral of Notre-Dame-Immaculée in Monaco-Ville, in the presence of many members of the royal family.

The Monegasques had already sorely missed their performances alongside their husband Albert II (65), now the princess suddenly appeared unusually intimate with the Grimaldis.

Rainier would have celebrated his 100th birthday in May, so the sympathy for the 18th anniversary of his death was all the greater.

Charlène's surprise appearance was received with great favour.

The mother of the country showed up in muted colors according to the occasion in a long mouse-grey coat, underneath which fans could catch a glimpse of a partly transparent dress.

Those present could not believe their eyes when Charlotte Casiraghi (36) greeted her aunt with a warm hug and a kiss.

The close ranks with Albert's family is all the more astonishing since Charlène had only shone with her absence lately.

Most recently, she was only spotted on a solo trip to Milan, during which the absence of her wedding ring was noticed.

Neither at Monaco's legendary Rose Ball nor before at her husband's birthday had she appeared, recently the rumors of separation had become so massive that the palace was forced to make a statement.

He emphatically denied it.

Nevertheless, the pictures of the native South African, who often looked like a stranger among the children and their descendants of the deceased sovereign, spoke for themselves.

A different picture finally emerged at the service: in addition to Charlène and Albert, Rainier's daughters, Caroline von Hanover (66) and Princess Stéphanie (58) were also present at the service.

While Caroline's children all attended mass for their grandfather, Stephanie's son Louis Ducruet (30) and his wife Marie Chevalllier (30) were absent.

However, as they only recently became parents to a young daughter, they were deemed excused.

The proud grandmother Princess Stéphanie was accompanied by her two adult daughters Pauline Ducruet (28) and Camille Gottlieb (24).

The demonstrative unity between Charlène and the princely family is all the more gratifying since the last horror report from the rocky state on the Côte d'Azur had only recently made the rounds: Albert, so leaked out in the press, disempowered Charlène in such a way that she was no longer alone as head of the dwarf state, he should die before Hereditary Prince Jacques (8) turns 18 and thus begins the line of succession.

A government council will take responsibility in this case.
