Facial skin care is different from body skin care.
A daytime routine that is accompanied by a night one "will not only make us look
healthy skin
, but will also be useful to prevent deterioration caused by the passage of time on the face", introduces the dermatologist Irene Bermejo.
It is easy to do as it only consists of a few steps.
However, if acids are placed, these must be
indicated by a professional,
and we must know that the products we use are not necessarily the same at different times of the day: for example, the night serum may have melatonin in instead of other vitamins.
In a video made for
Clarín
, the dermatologist recommends following the following steps, every night, before going to bed.
Step 1: Cleaning
Cleanse the skin energetically and deeply, especially at night, to
remove any traces of makeup
, dirt, soot, dead cells, particles and all the substances with which the skin was in contact during the day and that may have accumulated.
Why is this step so important?
"We need extremely clean skin, so that it can later
absorb the products
that we want to add," explains Bermejo.
What should we clean with to make it
more effective
?
The dermatologist replies that, depending on the type of skin, a cleansing milk, a gel or a foam will be more suitable for this step.
“Then, it must be removed from both the forehead, cheekbones, nose and pear, with a
sponge or cotton
slowly but energetically.
Do it gently, without irritating the skin of the face, which is very sensitive, ”he warns.
Cleaning should be done vigorously.

Step 2: nutrition
Once the skin is clean, we must distribute a
nutrient
serum on it.
"If we are thinking about the night, it may be melatonin", although he clarifies that products can also be used with:
Vitamin C
Vitamin B5
Niacinamide
Vitamin E.

Step 3: the turn of the acids
Then, the skin is ready to place an acid, the one that the professional recommends.
“At night it is usually
retinoics or retinol
(which is a derivative of vitamin A).
If the acid is not moistened, we can have irritation as a consequence, which causes tightness, redness, itching ”, he points out.
“There are many acids: mandelic, azelaic. I recommend using glycolic, retinol and retinoic, which are the basis for
rejuvenating skin
.
Retinoic increases peripheral circulation, which is useful for cell turnover, maintaining refined, but compact, youthful skin,” he explains.
Acids help in rejuvenation of the skin.

Step 4 – Moisturizing
Finally, facial skin should be moisturized with a cream to give it
comfort.
Moisturizing creams are usually “heavier” than hydrating creams because they are more complete, since they prevent moisture from evaporating.
Moisturizing is the last step of the routine.

a healthy lifestyle
Bermejo emphasizes that these steps are essential to show off fresh, hydrated and luminous skin.
However, they must be accompanied by
healthy guidelines
that include:
A healthy diet, made up of a balanced diet that avoids ultra-processed foods.
Avoid undue exposure to light.
Do sport.
keep a good rest
"This lifestyle favors healthy aging," he closes.
