The fight in the Senate: the ruling party and the opposition continue without dialogue but seek a consensus to avoid another scandal

"They are going to set Congress on fire if it continues to be screwed," warned a parliamentary source. On Wednesday there will be a parliamentary work meeting to define the agenda for the session on the 13th.

After the scandal of the last session, which was raised due to lack of quorum amid shouting, both the ruling party and the opposition know that in the Senate there is no room for another big deal and, therefore, there is a firm decision from both sectors to seek a consensus and agree on the agenda for the session on April 13.

In principle, the bid for control of the Upper House, a territory that for three years was managed based on the demands of Cristina Kirchner, remains on fire and the proof is that both the Frente de Todos and Juntos por el Cambio presented your own special session request.

Both presentations include the same projects, issues that had been raised for the March 30 session, when the opposition rose from their benches in the face of a Kirchnerist maneuver when interpreting the regulations to vote on a motion of order requested by Alfredo Cornejo. that changed the agenda.

Despite the latest scandal, there were no talks between the ruling party and the opposition on these Easter days.

However, in both sectors they are committed to defining an agreed agenda.

From the radical bloc commanded by Luis Naidenoff they admitted that there is no place for more fights.

"

We have already shown that we can bring together 38 senators and Cristina no longer has control

of the Senate. For this reason, we must not force the relationship with the wayward," said an opposition senator, referring to the representatives of Federal Unity, which has four legislators who were in the Frente de Todos and Alejandra Vigo from Cordoba, wife of Governor Juan Schiaretti.

For this reason, in the opposition they understand that there is a favorable scenario to meet on April 13 and that all the issues be fulfilled.

"It can be tense because the ruling party always breaks the rules. We are going to a very long session," said a legislator.

However, in the Senate they assure that the tension levels were lowered and from Juntos they dismissed the possibility that the Kirchnerism resort to a new ruse to thwart the session.

"They are going to set Congress on fire if it continues screwing up

," warned an important parliamentary source consulted by this newspaper.

An issue that does generate some differences is the Zero Alcohol project, which the opposition added in an extension of the agenda so as not to force Mendoza to promote a law that they do not agree with.

For now, in Together for Change, freedom of action was given when voting on that proposal.

It is worth remembering that there is no broad consensus within the ruling party and it even kept it in a box to avoid showing any break in the Frente de Todos.

What is striking is that the project divides the senators by Mendoza.

The radicals Alfredo Cornejo and Mariana Juri oppose the project, but the camporista Anabel Fernández Sagasti is in favor of the proposal.

The representatives of San Juan, another of the wine-producing provinces, agreed to reject the initiative.

Both the pro-government members José Uñac and Cristina López Valverde, as well as Roberto Basualdo, an ally of Juntos, spoke out against it.

Those who would not be in favor of the proposal either are Juan Carlos Romero from Salta and the head of the PRO, Humberto Schiavoni.

While Jujuy Guillermo Snopek, president of the Federal Unit and who signed the majority opinion, said that on Monday he would have a definition on the subject.

For this special session were included, among other projects, the six specifications of Federal judges for the provinces of Santa Fe and Córdoba, and the so-called Lucio Law.

In addition, there is the law to strengthen the Federal Justice in Santa Fe, which has been approved by Deputies and has not passed through any Senate commission.

This proposal came to fruition after the threat suffered by the family of soccer player Lionel Messi.
