Hamburg – At around 4:42 a.m. on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023, the rescue control center in Hamburg Rothenburgsort received several emergency calls that a car was on fire on a company site in Billstrasse.
When the first fire engine from the Moorfleet volunteer fire department arrived at the scene, several vehicles, washing machines and other stored goods were already burning outdoors.
The flames quickly spread to the warehouse complex.

The warning app NINA and CellBroadcast woke up many people in Hamburg on Easter Sunday.
They were asked to keep windows and doors closed and not to be outdoors if possible.
S-Bahn and long-distance trains from Hamburg to the east were closed.
