The Buenos Aires head of government, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta,
confirmed this Monday that he is going to unfold the Buenos Aires elections
, despite the strong internal resistance expressed by former president Mauricio Macri and other PRO leaders.
"To me, as head of Government, it is my responsibility to decide when and how to vote in the City. And today I want to tell you that I made the decision that the porteños vote on the same day that they vote in the national elections. In other words, , on August 13 the PASS, on October 22 the general ones and on November 19 the ballot, if any," he specified.
He also specified that they will vote on the same day as the PASO and the national general elections, but that in the case of Buenos Aires positions, they will use the single electronic ballot system.
The presidential candidate made the decision official, which was advanced on Friday in Clarín, through a video that he published on social networks on Monday.
In this way,
it will call elections with ballots and ballot boxes separate
from the national one to define the next head of the Buenos Aires government.
According to Clarín, Rodríguez Larreta decided to go out to confirm the decision after having a series of telephone conversations with Macri, María Eugenia Vidal and Patricia Bullrich.
This Sunday, the former president came out to reject or question the intention of the head of government to unfold the elections in the City of Buenos Aires, considering that it is "going against the neighbors because it is more state spending, it is more voting time ".
"For politics to think that by changing the electoral rules in an electoral year the porteños are going to choose in a certain sense, is not to know them. The porteños are autonomous, they are free and they are independent. They choose who they want to vote for and who best represents", questioned Macri harshly.
Support for the PRO candidate
Rodríguez Larreta also assured that he will support the PRO candidate who presents himself in the Juntos por el Cambio internships.
"And I, as I have said many times, I am going to support a candidate from my party, which is the PRO. In the coming weeks we are going to be working to define which is the best candidate to continue with all the transformations that we started with Mauricio and that we continue until today. Thank you very much," the statement closed.
