The Government of El Salvador repatriated last Sunday the remains of seven of the migrants who died in a detention center in Ciudad Juárez during a fire on March 27.
The bodies were handed over to their relatives in the departments of Sonsonate, Chalatenango, La Libertad and San Salvador.
In a press conference, Cindy Mariella Portal, Vice Minister of Diaspora and Human Mobility, demanded that the Mexican authorities thoroughly investigate the event and punish those responsible.
So far, five people linked to the fire have been detained, including a Venezuelan migrant accused of starting the fire.
