The investigators kept a low profile on Easter Monday and initially did not comment on the motive of the alleged perpetrator.
A spokesman for the public prosecutor's office also left open on Monday whether the murder weapon was found during the search of the man's apartment.
It is also unclear with which crimes the 20-year-old suspect had previously become conspicuous.
The seriously injured 18-year-old was still in a hospital on Easter Sunday.
A spokesman for the Ludwigsburg police headquarters did not want to say how he was doing on Monday.
The crime shook the 13,700-inhabitant city north of Stuttgart.
"This is a new dimension of violence that I could not have imagined," said Mayor Christian Eiberger (independent) on Saturday.

After the deadly shots in Asperg north of Stuttgart, the arrested suspect has to be remanded in custody.
A judge issued an arrest warrant against the 20-year-old for manslaughter and attempted manslaughter, prosecutors and police said on Sunday.
A police special task force arrested the man early on Saturday evening without resistance.
His home was searched, it said.
Evidence was secured from the man known to the police, as a spokesman for the public prosecutor said.
He left open whether the murder weapon was among them.

After several incidents of shots being fired at people in the Stuttgart area, the police checked around 100 people in Stuttgart with several hundred officers on Sunday night.
There have been raids in several restaurants and identity checks, said the State Criminal Police Office and the police in Stuttgart.
Prohibited or dangerous objects such as brass knuckles and two folding knives were secured.
The investigators have still not cleared up several shots fired at people in the Stuttgart/Göppingen region.
In just one case, two young men were arrested at the beginning of the week, who are said to have shot an innkeeper in Plochingen from a car.

As a police spokesman said on Sunday, the man was taken away from a residential building early on Saturday evening.
