The bear responsible for the death of the jogger in Trentino is the bear Gaia.
She is the sister of the brown bear Bruno, who was shot in Bavaria in 2006.
Trento - The public prosecutor's office in Trento announced yesterday that the genetic analysis of traces on Papi's body, which the laboratory of the Edmund Mach Foundation in St. Michael an der Adige (Trentino) evaluated, revealed: It was the bear JJ4 , named Gaia, who is responsible for the death of the jogger.
Gaia is the younger sister of the bear Bruno (JJ1), who was shot in 2006 near the Rotwandhaus on Spitzingsee.
Her mother is the brown bear Jurka, who was caught in Slovenia in 1999 and released in the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park.
Ten Slovenian bears were supposed to strengthen the bear population there, which had shrunk to four specimens.

Bear Gaia kills joggers in Italy - she had previously become conspicuous
Gaia had already attracted attention: she is held responsible for an attack on the Tridentine hunter Christian Misseroni (61) and his son Fabio (39) on Monte Peller on June 22, 2020.
According to the father, the son was suddenly attacked by the bear. The father was seriously injured in the incident.

After the death of Jogger: the hunt for Gaia the bear has begun
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, 40 forest officials at Monte Peller began hunting Gaia, searching an area of 800 hectares.
The Trentino provincial government and the environmental agency ISPRA have already given the go-ahead for the launch.
Two other bears, Bruno's half-brother MJ5 (called the Boss), who attacked and seriously injured a walker in March this year and a bear named M62, who stole chickens from a farm, are also to be killed.
The funeral service for Andrea Papi will also take place on Wednesday.
