One of the most satisfying things that makes a person feel very good about himself is when he manages to understand and distinguish the optical illusion that is in front of him.
Some people are addicted to optical illusions and like to stimulate their mind.
Many of us remember the dress in different colors that people had to guess the color of that caused a stir online, but in reality it's mostly all about perspective.
The situation is a little different with this new optical illusion - it depends on it that casts doubt on the way we see and perceive colors.
Seeing that many drivers make a mistake and put the wrong fuel in their car, the online comparison company iCompario revealed a new illusion designed to test how we see the color of fuel pumps.
So what colors do you see? (Photo: screenshot, Icompario)
The illusion features five different fuel pumps, each one completely different from the next.
The pumps are red, black, green, blue and yellow.
Below each of the pumps there are three more pumps that look different in color than the one at the top of the column.
But, it is only the presence of the lines passing across the image that change the color tones in the fuel pumps.
Those and all the pumps in the other rows are exactly the same - the only different colors are just at the top of the picture.
The way the colors are perceived depends on the color found in the lines around the image - for example, a red line gives the fuel pump a different shade than a green line.
The Daily Mirror writes that this causes our brains to pick up on some fascinating color changes - which aren't there at all and it also explains why some pumps look darker or lighter than the top column.
According to optical illusion expert Michael Bach, this is a Munker-White illusion that shows how much the environment affects the perception of color and changes the perception of two identical shades of color when they are placed against different environmental colors.
