Commissioner Kobi Shabtai ordered today (Thursday) to open an investigation into the floods in the last few days in the south of the country, during which the brothers Maayan and Sahar Asor perished. The investigation will be coordinated by the commander of the Southern District, Superintendent Peretz Amr, and will be attended by part of the Southern District, the Traffic Division, representatives of the Operations Division and the air unit of the police.
The decision to open an investigation came following a situation assessment meeting that was held this morning regarding the operations to rescue the drivers and travelers since Monday, when the stormy weather began across the country. Shabtai wanted to thank all the bodies
that assisted in the operations, including the police, the rescue units, the MGB, the IDF , the air force, the division commander, rescue unit 669, the fire brigade, Magen David Adom, volunteers and civilians.

The floods in the south were caused by stormy weather, which started on Monday evening.
Following them, dozens of people needed rescue in the Negev region.
The bodies of the Asur brothers were found on Tuesday morning, after it was announced that they were missing together with Shay Dehan, Maayan's partner, on Monday evening.
Dahan was found the next morning safe and sound.
Due to the fear of flooding, the exit from Eilat was closed intermittently, which caused dozens of people to get stuck in the city without the possibility of leaving or entering it without facing huge traffic jams on the way.
