Bayern Munich
forwards
Leroy Sané
and
Sadio Mané
met in the locker room after Tuesday's 3-0 defeat in the first leg of the
Champions League
quarterfinals against
Manchester City
, and two days
later the German club issued a statement to deal with the situation.
According to the local newspaper The Bild, in the locker room at the Etihad Stadium, the Senegalese international Mané would have slapped Sané in the face, whose lip would have ended up inflamed.
Asked by the German press agency SID, a subsidiary of the AFP, Bayern avoided commenting on the information in Bild, collected in various German media, or its possible consequences.
Until this Thursday a statement was published on the club's social networks.
"Sadio Mané, 31, will not be in FC Bayern's squad for the home game against 1899 Hoffenheim next Saturday," the short text begins.
And he completes: "The reason is Mané's misconduct after FC Bayern's Champions League game against Manchester City. In addition, Mané will receive a fine."
Mané, who entered the game when 69 minutes had been played, had a discussion with Sané on the field.
Bayern's star signing this season, Mané has not lived up to expectations, especially due to the right fibula injury he suffered at the beginning of November and which prevented him from playing in the World Cup in Qatar with Senegal.
He returned to competition at the end of February.
Beaten 3-0 by Manchester City, Bayern need a great comeback next Wednesday at the Allianz Arena to advance to the semi-finals.
