Crime in San Isidro: order to release the son of the retiree murdered with a knife

2023-04-13T01:53:51.231Z

This is Aldo Antonio Di Paolo, arrested for the murder of his mother, María Cristina de Vicentiis. For the judge there is a 'lack of evidence'.

The Justice of San Isidro ordered the release of Aldo Antonio Di Paolo (65), who was detained accused of having killed his mother María Cristina De Vicentiis (90) by sticking a kitchen knife into her neck.

The man was the one who on Wednesday, March 8, around 8:30 p.m., called the Police to report that he had found his mother murdered in her house, at Avellaneda 1314, between San José and Herrera.

When the Police arrived at the scene, they verified that the woman, an Italian immigrant, was dead, lying in the kitchen of the house, with a knife with a wooden handle stuck in her neck.

The autopsy established that De Vincentiis died from a neck wound that caused hemorrhage and hypovolemic shock.

Di Paolo lived around the corner from his mother's house - on the same block - who used a wheelchair and needed constant attention.

So the person who took care of her was her son.

When he testified, he said that for two days he could not communicate with Cristina, but he did not go to visit her either.

That set off the alerts.

Aldo Di Paolo was the one who called 911 for the death of his mother.

In addition, Di Paola maintained that the woman had suffered a

robbery of jewelry and a cell phone

.

The first line that was investigated was that of a homicide during a robbery committed by someone who had managed to enter the house.

Although there were no forced doors or windows, some neighbors declared that the retiree

used to leave the door open

when she went out with her wheelchair to get some air.

The house was also in disarray, but to the investigators it gave the impression that a robbery scene was staged.

For this reason, the prosecutor Carolina Asprella ordered the arrest of the son based on the investigative tasks and the contradictions detected with the security cameras.

A month later,

Judge Ricardo Costa ordered his release for "lack of evidence"

despite the fact that the man is accused of

aggravated homicide by the bond

.

A crime that provides for life imprisonment if found guilty.

For his part, Di Paolo always defended his innocence.

Di Paolo was arrested accused of matricide.

A key point is the estimated death date that revealed that the retiree was murdered between

48 and 72 hours before the autopsy

carried out on Wednesday, March 8, which places the murder as committed between Monday - when Di Paolo was filmed entering and leaving the woman's house-, and on Tuesday.

Investigators of the murder analyze an economic motive, since they found

3,000 dollars and 900,000 pesos

in the defendant's house and because of a message that the defendant wrote on the web to the Italian consulate for the pension that his mother received from that country.

"I have problems with my mother's pension," says the first of the two messages that Di Paolo posted on February 6 -just a month before the crime-, on the embassy-finder.com website and addressed to the Consulate General from Italy in Buenos Aires.

A quarter of an hour after the first message, he repeated the query with more information: "I have problems with my mother's pension, María Cristina De Vincentiis, it is difficult to get an appointment to carry out the procedures" and he left his email address so that contact him.
