Israeli-Palestinian Memorial Day ceremony (--)
The Israeli-Palestinian Day of Remembrance ceremony, held every year with the participation of bereaved Israeli and Palestinian families, will not take place this year - Defense Minister Yoav Galant stated today (Thursday).
Gallant replied in the negative to the requests submitted by Palestinian families, who wanted to enter Israel to participate in the ceremony.
The Minister of Defense claimed that the passage of the Palestinians should not be allowed due to the "complex security reality", and due to the fact that a general closure will be imposed on Judea and Samaria on this date.

The joint Remembrance Day ceremony has been held in recent years with the participation of bereaved families from both sides, calling for peace.
During the Corona closures, the ceremony was held on Zoom.
Last year, about a thousand people participated in the ceremony, alongside hundreds of thousands who watched the ceremony live online.
For security reasons, the organizers asked the invitees not to reveal the location of the event before the ceremony;
However, about ten protesters stood at the entrance to the place in a fenced compound, cursing the passers-by.
In April 2018, then Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman banned 90 Palestinians from entering Israel in order to participate in the Memorial Day ceremony.
He claimed at the time that "this is not a memorial ceremony but a display of bad taste and insensitivity, which hurts the bereaved families who are dearest to us."
The High Court, however, overturned Lieberman's decision and allowed the Palestinians to enter the country.
