It would seem like a perfect script written for a series or a movie if it weren't for the fact that the story is true.
The media magnate Rupert Murdoch (Melbourne, Australia, 92 years old) decided to end his fourth marriage with Jerry Hall (Texas, USA, 66 years old) through an e-mail announcing their
divorce
in 11 words.
“Jerry, unfortunately I have decided to end our marriage [”
Jerry, sadly I've decided to call an end to our marriage”
in English]”, began the email from her husband of six years.
"Certainly we have had some good times, but I have a lot to do... My New York lawyer will contact yours immediately," continued the message that now reveals a new profile of the owner of the Fox chain in Vanity Fair magazine
,
in in which numerous friends and acquaintances of the two participate.
That message caught Hall by surprise, who was waiting for Murdoch to meet him at his property in Oxfordshire (United Kingdom) last year, in June 2022. That abrupt end and through a mail would come after six years of marriage and eight of relationship.
"Rupert and I never quarreled," she assured her ex-model's friends, to whom she confessed to being surprised.
The divorce was officially finalized two months later.
The separation agreement, according to the same publication, included that Hall agreed not to give details or ideas to the writers of
Succession
, the hit HBO series about a powerful media family inspired by the tycoon's family.

But that pact of silence was not the only thing that was required of Jerry Hall to end his relationship with Rupert Murdoch.
Mick Jagger's ex-wife had a period of 30 days to leave the Bel Air house and take out her belongings, as long as she demonstrated with receipts that the objects were her property, sources close to her have told the same publication.
"She was devastated, angry and humiliated," she claimed.

Penny Fowler, Murdoch's niece and friend of the former model, suggested that they meet and from there the spark was born.

The couple were married in an 18th-century London mansion in March 2016, a week before Murdoch's 85th birthday and a party attended by hundreds of guests, including journalist Rebekah Brooks, musician Bob Geldof, the actor Michael Caine and artist Tracey Emin.

A failed fifth marriage at age 92
Barely nine months after that divorce that caught Hall by surprise, Rupert Murdoch announced that at the age of 92 he would go down the aisle for the fifth time with Ann Lesley Smith.
"We are both looking forward to spending the second half of our lives together," said the magnate last March, when making the news public.
Murdoch and Smith got engaged in New York on St. Patrick's Day.
As Murdoch told the

, he presented the bride-to-be with a diamond solitaire ring that he "personally selected."
This wedding announcement did not catch Hall by surprise, according to
Vanity Fair
, since just four months after their divorce Murdoch and Smith were photographed on their first joint vacation in Barbados and appeared in half the world's heart press.
The former model confessed to her closest friends, according to the same magazine, that her ex-husband had simply moved on in the same way that she had ended her previous marriages.
But the announcement of the cancellation of the fifth and last wedding for Murdoch—according to the magnate himself—has not been long in coming.
