As expected, the Murnau municipal council rejected a building application from Vodafone on Wednesday.
The provider wants to set up a 40 meter mast in a very exposed location in Hechendorf.
How the matter will continue is currently open.
According to the will of the municipal council, Vodafone should first prove the need.

– Whoever entered the large hall of the Murnau Culture and Conference Center (KTM) on Wednesday evening could get the impression that half of Hechendorf was there.
Around 140 listeners came to follow the municipal council meeting on the subject of mobile communications.
There's pressure in the boiler.
After all, Vodafone wants to place a 40 meter high steel lattice mast in a very exposed location on the Wascherfeld.
This met with massive criticism in the Murnau district.
There are concerns about landscape protection, but also about health.
A community of interest was recently founded in the Schützenhaus to prevent the mast from being built on the Wascherfeld.
A possible alternative location that is in the room is near the small animal breeding area.

As before at the special session on public transport, listeners in the KTM repeatedly applauded or expressed their disapproval.
Requests from Mayor Rolf Beuting (ÖDP/Bürgerforum) not to do this were more or less ignored.
However, the head of the town hall did not want to have the hall cleared.
However, 30 to 40 citizens went voluntarily after Phillip Zoepf, leader of the Mehr Bewegungs group, spoke.
They obviously didn't like what they heard.
"We have the choice between two locations," said Zoepf.
"We can not Do more.
That's just the way it is.
There will be a cell phone tower coming.
It would be dishonest to say that we could prevent a mast." Wolfgang Küpper, spokesman for the ÖDP/Citizens' Forum, said: "We are the wrong addressees for the outrage." The community is "a small wheel in a large mechanism".

"Disturbing line of sight"
At the beginning, a citizen pointed out a Mittenwald decision.
The local building and environment committee rejected a Vodafone application in March.
The mobile phone giant wanted to build a 35-meter mast.
At the time, the district office complained about “the disturbing visual relationship to the listed Elmau Castle”.
Not least because of this, the district authority suggested that the application be rejected, and the Mittenwald representatives followed this recommendation.
The listener to the Murnau municipal council meeting sees this as a “precedent”.
It would be possible to impose a ban on changes and draw up a development plan, as Michael Manlik (ÖDP/Bürgerforum) suggested.
However, the municipality cannot make any negative plans, as market builder Klaus Tworek explained.
This is always the case when the municipality tries to pursue completely different goals through land use planning or wants to prevent other projects without this being prevented for planning reasons.
For Manlik, the case is clear: "We have the choice between plague and cholera." Rudolf Utzschneider (CSU) asked whether the municipality could have a say in the mast height.
A 30 meter high tower is "still a monster, but you can't see it from every corner".

The municipal councils agreed to reject the planning application for an antenna on the Wascherfeld.
The location is incompatible with the landscape and impairs environmental protection.
In addition, it is not clear from the building application that the development of the property is secured for traffic.
The application will now be forwarded to the district office.
After a good two-hour debate, the committee also agreed that, before voting on location variants, Vodafone should prove the basic supply requirements and also present the scope.
The area on the small animal breeders' premises was explicitly not included or offered in the resolution.
According to an expert report, this location and the one at Wascherfeld are to be classified similarly.
Vantage Towers: "Severe undersupply"
One of the listeners doubted whether Vodafone even had a need in the said corner of Murnau.
Robin Hagenmüller from the cell tower operator Vantage Towers, originally a Vodafone subsidiary: "Before a new cell phone tower is erected, the cell phone network operators of course thoroughly check to what extent an improvement of their own cell phone network on site is really necessary.
Everything else would not be expedient from the point of view of sustainability and with a view to the costs incurred (considerable investments for construction, ongoing operating costs, etc.).” As an infrastructure operator, one only becomes active as soon as there is an acute need on the part of the mobile network operator has been identified.
In the present case, the supply target is the ICE route south of Murnau to approximately north of Ohlstadt and the federal highway 2 (same section).
There is currently a “severe undersupply” in this area.
